Our new home is almost finishes…..now comes the fun of getting new furniture on a small budget…….
…..NEW HOME……NEW DECOR….NEW FURNITURE….LACK OF FUNDS…..
Since money is tight and the house building budget is getting smaller and smaller there is not much money left for lots of new furniture.
I need to get creative (and dirty) and rely on yard sales and Do-It-Yourself projects.
Few months ago I purchased a new pub style dining room set. As much as I love my new dining room set it didn’t match my light colored buffet & hutch unit.
The buffet & hutch is few years old and it wasn’t too expensive to begin with so I decided to experiment with it.
I picked up few cans of spray paint and roll of masking tape. I took the cabinet into my yard and started painting.
This is my new dining room set.
This is my old (well, bottom half of…) light-colored buffet & hutch cabinet that I needed to match my dining room set.
…..TA-DA……here is my pride and joy…..this is my DIY updated buffet & hutch cabinet……
For the complete project I needed:
- 3 Cans Black Spray Paint $6.00
- 2 Cans Brown Spray Paint $4.00
- 1 Masking Tape $3.50
- Old Newspaper
My DYI project turned out better then expected. I gave my old furniture a new life and save money in the process.
I love the look of my new and updated buffet & hutch. It looks really good standing beside my dining room set and it completely changed the dynamic of the whole room.
For less then $14.00 I have a brand new buffet & hutch cabinet. That’s what I call a great deal.
Stay tuned for more house projects and updates.
