Kids Craft Project – Pencil Holder

It’s funny how very different each child is….my boys are not an exception…..they are like Day & Night.
The older one is very independent and likes to occupy himself with reading, watching movies or taking on huge Lego projects.
The younger one is a social butterfly that likes group activities and LOVES crafts.
Having a crafty 7 year old I am always looking for new kids craft ideas to keep him busy and inspired.
One of his favorite craft activities is building and creating things from paper towels or toilet paper rolls.
Last week we decided to do another easy and fun craft with toilet paper rolls.
Crafting with kids I always try to come up or look for easy kids crafts that don’t need too much adult help.
Our latest kid friendly craft project was to make a pencil holder using empty TP rolls.
One good thing about lots of paper toilet use in our house is the unlimited toilet paper roll supply for crafts.
Since we had lots of TP rolls on hand we decided to make 2 different pencil holders.
To make a pencil holder you will need:
- empty toilet paper rolls
- hot glue gun
- piece of thick cardboard
- pencil
- assorted ribbons or strips of colored paper
- stickers
STEP 1: Glue the toilet paper rolls together. You can make 3 or 4 compartments.

STEP 2: On the cardboard trace the bottom of the pencil holder (rolls glued together) with pencil and cut it out.
Glue it to the bottom of the TP rolls.

STEP 3: Using hot glue gun attach the ribbons or strips of colored paper around the toilet paper rolls. Use your imagination.

We made one pencil holder with three compartments and decorated it with colorful ribbons.
The other pencil holder was with 4 compartments and it was decorated with scrapbook paper and pirate stickers.
This turned out to be such a fun project and easy craft with kids.
Stay tuned for more craft with toilet paper rolls because we have plenty of them around.
One more thing….I love COMMENTS like everyone else so go ahead and let me know how am I doing.I would love to hear from you.

this turned out soooo good i love it .
Wow! Who knew I would find my next greatest idea here when I decided to click on your profile name over at SITS. I’m going to do this project with the boys later today. Thanks for a wonderful idea.
Very cool–I hadn’t thought of putting multiple rolls together. You know, if you trimmed them to different heights and painted them a solid color I bet they’d look just like some of the ones you find in the office supply stores!
My favorite craft with paper rolls, so far, has to be Christmas Crackers, though.

Stopping by from SITS! They are so cute! What a great git idea!
What a cute craft : )
I don’t think we need any pencil holders though. I can barely find a pencil in the house to save my life…
Those turned out cute….I’ll have to remember this when I run out of craft ideas!
Stopping by from SITS! Always looking for ways to keep the kiddos busy. This has been added to the list!
This is way to cool. I love this…
Thanks for joining Get Your Craft on Thursday. Please join me next week for another great party!
