Mr. Monk Is Miserable Book Review

I love reading, but to be honest I didn’t read many books last few years….I just can’t bring myself to stop-sit-read lately.

The only time I can relax long enough to read a complete book or two is during summer camping trips.

Mr. Monk Book Review

When I DO read I love to read mysteries……

Couple summers ago we were getting ready for a camping trip so I visited our local library in a search of a few good mystery books….I found a book from MONK series…yes a book series based on my favorite TV show MONK….mystery book featuring my favorite OCD detective Adrian Monk.

The book I checked out Mr. Monk Goes To Germany was book #6 (I didn’t know that at the time) in the 12 book series written by Lee Goldberg.

After I posted a review I got a comment from……wait for it…..Lee Goldberg himself…..

….Lee Goldberg suggested next time I am in the library to check out Mr.Monk Is Miserable…..#7 book in the MONK series and a book that picks up exactly where Mr. Monk Goes To Germany left off……

Well, on my next trip to the library I checked out Mr. Monk is Miserable.

I was not disappointed . It was funny, full of mystery and I could actually imagine myself in Paris with Mr. Monk (thanks to the TV and Tony Shalhoub I had a clear vision of Adrian Monk).

After Natalie’s ruined vacation in Germany she blackmails Monk into few days in Paris. Of course, she was to naive to think that she can have an actual vacation with Adrian without dead bodies .

First body was a murder on the plane (murder actually happened at the airport, but he murder made a mistake and flew on Adrian’s flight) on the way to Paris…..…and then the bodies or skeletons kept coming.

I could not put the book away. Mr. Monk antics always seem to amaze me. Just imagining him walking around Paris in contamination suit and driving around in the street sweeper cracks me up.

Mr. Monk Is Miserable Book Review

I truly enjoyed reading about the Paris Catacombs and the famous Paris underground sewers. I could clearly imagine all the characters living in the underground tunnels of Paris.

I could see myself sitting in one of the many Cafes and ordering the special French grilled cheese sandwich that Adrian Monk fell in love with…..

This book had it all. Mystery with twists, comedy and you get to visit Paris without leaving your house.

Now I need to find some time to read the rest of the books in the MONK series…..I am hopeful….camping time is coming.

If you are looking for light mystery with lots of unexpected twists and lots of laugh in between pick up a book from Monk series. You won’t be disappointed…..,but I suggest you start from the beginning….not like me at #6.

How is it that I didn’t know these books existed?

I have just started getting into Monk the last couple of years (a little late to the party, I know) and love it so much!

I’ll definitely be looking for these.

(and how cool that the author stopped by and commented? I LOVE that!!)
