Seems like I just blinked and it’s almost end of June.
My oldest boy has one more day of final exams….today….then good bye school.
The little one has one more weeks and then he’s finishes as well….
In other words…..Summer holidays are here and it doesn’t matter how hard you try to keep your kids occupied they still will get bored. That’s just something all kids do.
Summer days around our house get really hot
By afternoon the boys are really beat from the heat, bored and of course cranky.
Last year I started movie matinee everyday we spent at home…boys get to relax, cool down and unwind……The quiet time helps everybody to calm down……and calm kids make mama happy.
My older son is a movie buff. He loves to watch old classics. I try to introduce my kids to many different movies especially classic movies with strong message.
We made a list of top 10 classic movies we want to see this summer. These are for older kids from ages 8/10 and up.

I do too! I find every excuse to watch Disney movies especially classic Disney with my boys.
We actually have all the ones you’ve listed! (Is that a good or bad thing? Are we movie addicted. Hmm.. Yes!) I’m sure I have others to add to list – but naturally right now my mind is blank. Except I always loved Hayley Mills film – The Trouble with Angels, Moon Spinners, The Castaways, That Darn Cat. And my kids (boys) actually like them too

Little addicted, but your secret is safe with me and the rest of the people who read this blog, lol.
Great additions, thanks….I have to put those on our list.
Great idea! Those were some of my favorite movies growing up. Fun for kids and grown ups too.
Have a wonderful weekend!
I love this list…. another classic children’s movie that I love as a kid was “Bed knobs and Broomsticks.”

I loved Mary Poppins, Chitty-Chitty Bang Bang, and The Love Bug as a child!
Those are all my favorite as well. Great classics.
In the 8-14 age group I’ve only seen three of those movies but for ages 2-100 I’ve seen five. I’m a big fan of kid’s movies even though I am 30 and not a mom. Disney movies on random evening with a bowl of popcorn? I’m in!
And I have to say out of all of those Wizard of Oz and Willy Wonka are my two favorites.

Great additions. I never saw Annie movie just on stage, but I love the old Parent Trap and Grease.
Great list! I loved Aristocats as a kid. My kids could watch Chitty Chitty Bang Bang until the cows come home but it scared me to death when I was 5 or so.

Would you believe that first time I was 20 when I saw Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Sound Of Music? It was few months after I moved to Canada.
I seriously love every single one of the movies you listed!
All those classic Disney movies were so good. I think you should add The Shaggy Dog (the original, not the Tim Allen re-make).

Oh, yes…..The Shaggy Dog is a great addition, Tracie.
Love all these movies…but also Benji came to my mind and all his movies that followed. I also enjoyed Escape to Witch Mountain, Old Yeller, The Apple Dumpling Gang, Hook, and Enchanted. I am sure if I thought more, I’d think of more, but that’s all for now.
I love choices as well especially Enchanted.
Great choices! This list reminded me of some fun movies to watch with my kids!

The Mister will be sorely disappointed that “The Jungle Book” didn’t make the cut. He still watches it every couple of months.

I am so sorry. My apologies to the Mister. I will make sure to include Jungle Book in Part II.
